Brazilian Leaf House by Mareines + Patalano, Architects

The setting - Rio de Janeiro. The architects - Mareines + Patalano. The inspiration - nature.

Can I just say how much I love this? Or is covet a better word choice? Sigh.
Not only lovely, but passively cooled and naturally ventilated. I also love the big open spaces and no hallways.

And on the beach, let's not leave that out.

Make it Rain - Rafaël Rozendaal

Start your weekend by controlling the weather with your mouse. This little bit of attitude adjustment brought to you by artist Rafaël Rozendaal.

Once it's nice and sunny, don't forget to get away from your computer and mow the lawn...

Seashell House by Mark Mills

It's funny how you can fall in love with something at first sight.

I had that experience twice in the past 2 days - once with a piece of jewelry that now graces my person, the second time this morning when I saw pictures of a wonderful house on the Carmel coastline designed by architect Mark Mills.

One love at first sight I could afford and the other I can't (currently on the market at a cool 3 mil.)

When you can't afford the things you love, you do the next best thing: immortalize them in a blog post ;)

Garden of Cosmic Speculation by Charles Jencks

This weekend I tripped over another lucky soul who had his own 30 acres to play with and create his dream garden.

Landscape Architect Charles Jencks took his 30 acre playground and built a sculpture garden inspired by mathematics and science.

I LOVE this first image of the open air pergola. Oh, the things I could do with 30 acres and a generous budget...

Coastal Glass House by Mickey Muennig

Chaos gets in the way of the blogging again! While we were out, this crossed my desk and I gave a long sigh of want. What a great spot to write, think, and daydream (does it get WiFi?)

(location: Big Sur, California.)

Tree Faces Projection - Craig Walsh

In the events world, many of us are students of the "use the gifts your venue gives you" school (translation: stop just covering up the good stuff with pipe & drape...)

An artist less clever than Craig Walsh would have gone to great expense to put up screens to project on or just uplit the trees in dramatic colors. I've seen projection onto buildings before (and lots of it) but using trees is just pure genius. Bravo.

Paint in Water - Mark Mawson, Photographer

Filed under: people who's creativity makes me envious. Photographer Mark Mawson shoots these amazing images of paint drops into water using high speed cameras. I love the colors and the shapes, the work has an ethereal quality to it - especially watch the video. Gorgeous stuff....
